The Royal New South Wales Lancers

Restoring The Covenanter Bridgelayer

Quite sadly, the Museum's Covenanter Bridgelayer can never be fully restored to operational condition. When the Museum obtained the exhibit in the 1960’s it was already stripped internally, only able to be moved by towing. The bridge superstructure is not suited to cover by tarpaulin, and this has resulted in deterioration over time.

Thus in 2021, the Museum committee of management made a decision to stop the deterioration and return the exhibit to a point where it can be a quality static display, a tribute to the vehicle's place in the nation's history. Restorative work began in October 2021, this page follows the work, able to proceed with the help of a generous New South Wales Government grant.
